Late rally falls short as Polytechnic defeats Yeshiva in Baseball

(Brooklyn, NY) – Senior Max Gornish (St. Louis, MO/Block Yeshiva) went 3 for 5 with four RBI's, and junior Aaron Korda (Los Angeles, CA/YULA) went 2 for 5 with three RBI's, but the Yeshiva University Baseball team dropped a 12-9 heartbreaker to Polytechnic on Thursday afternoon at Polytechnic. With the loss, YU is now 0-9 overall and 0-7 in Skyline Conference play.

Polytechnic led 6-0 after two innings and 8-2 after three innings as Yeshiva's four errors led to four unearned runs for the Fighting Blue Jays, every one of which would prove to make a difference later in the game. Down 10-3 after six innings, Yeshiva rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh inning as Gornish doubled in two runs, and Korda tripled in two more runs.

After Polytechnic scored a run in the bottom of the frame, Yeshiva scored twice more in the top of the eighth inning when sophomore Jeremy Schwartz (Brooklyn, NY/MTA) singled home two runs to make it 11-9. However, that was as close as Yeshiva would get.

Yeshiva combined for 12 hits with Gornish, Korda, Schwartz, and Seth Fein (Woodmere, NY/Hebrew Academy of Long Beach) each registering at least two hits.

Yeshiva returns to action on Tuesday night when the Maccabees host CCNY at 7:45 p.m.
