Farmingdale State defeats Yeshiva in Men's Basketball

(Riverdale, NY) – Junior Martin Leibovich (Buenos Aires, Argentina/ORT II) enjoyed a solid all-around game with 15 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, and sophomore Simon Brookim (Brentwood, CA/Valley Torah) scored nine points and added three assists, but the Yeshiva University Men's Basketball team lost 84-59 to Farmingdale State on Saturday night at Farmingdale State. With the loss, Yeshiva is now 7-14 overall and 5-11 in Skyline Conference play.

A Zvi Glustein (Toronto, Canada/Or Chaim) lay-up with 13:25 remaining in the first half gave Yeshiva a 15-9 lead, however, from there, Farmingdale State went on a 17-0 run to take a 26-15 lead and break the game wide open. The Rams led 42-28 at halftime as Farmingdale State shot 50% from the floor during the opening stanza.

The second half saw much of the same as Farmingdale outscored Yeshiva 42-31 for the 25-point win. Overall, Farmingdale shot 52% compared to 44% for Yeshiva, and the Rams outrebounded the Maccabees 39-26. Yeshiva also committed 21 turnovers compared to Farmingdale's 14.

Yeshiva retuns to action on Monday, Feb. 16 when the Maccabees host Brooklyn College at 8:00 p.m.
