Men's Volleyball nets historic first-ever Skyline Conference victory with 3-1 win over Polytechnic

(New York, NY) - Junior Zanvy Grauman (Silver Spring, MD/Berman Hebrew) had 20 kills, and seven digs, and junior David Kahana (Silver Spring, MD/MJBHA) notched a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs as the Yeshiva University Men's Volleyball team won its first-ever Skyline Conference game, 3-1 over Polytechnic on Tuesday night at the Max Stern Athletics Center. With the win, Yeshiva is now 3-4 overall and 1-2 in Skyline Conference competition.

Yeshiva, who did not win a Skyline Conference match during the inaugural season of Skyline Conference Men's Volleyball in 2008, also won their first NECVA Metro match since 2002 as they won 30-25, 32-30, 23-30, and 30-26.

Grauman was outstanding, hitting .217 and his 20 kills were a season-high. Kahana notched his fourth double-double of the season and second straight. Also for YU, junior David Katz (Suffern, NY/SKA) had 10 kills, five digs, and 3.5 total blocks, and senior Joseph Bajtner (Skokie, IL/ICJA) registered eight digs and 45 assists.

Yeshiva combined for a .114 attack percentage, 41 digs, and nine total blocks during perhaps their finest match of the season.

The Maccabees return to action on Thursday, Feb. 5 when they host Albertus Magnus College for an 8:00 p.m. match.
