(Jamaica, NY) - Junior David Kahana (Silver Spring, MD/MJBHA) had an outstanding match with 21 kills, seven digs, and a .368 attack percentage, and senior Joseph Bajtner (Skokie, IL/Ida Crown Jewish Academy) added 37 assists as the Yeshiva University Men's Volleyball team improved to 1-1 with a 3-1 win over York College on Sunday afternoon at York.
Yeshiva dropped the opening set, 23-30, but rallied to win three straight sets, 30-24, 30-19, and 30-22 to avenge a 3-1 defeat at the hands of York College a year ago. The Maccabees hit .250 as a team, compared to York's .152 and outblocked the host Cardinals 8-7.
Bajtner and Kahana enjoyed their finest matches of the season, while junior Zanvy Grauman (Silver Spring, MD/Berman Hebrew) enjoyed a terrific match with 10 kills, three service aces, and two total blocks, while senior Jonathan Uretsky (Los Angeles, CA/YULA) chipped in seven kills, and a team-high .375 attack percentage.
The Maccabees return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 25 when they travel to Medgar Evers for an 8:00 p.m. start.
