(Brooklyn, NY) - Junior Zanvy Grauman (Silver Spring, MD/Berman Hebrew) had 11 kills and a .500 attack percentage, and fellow junior David Kahana (Silver Spring, MD/MJBHA) barely missed a double-double with 10 kills and nine digs as the Yeshiva University Men's Volleyball team improved to 2-1 with a 3-0 win over Medgar Evers on Tuesday night at Medgar Evers. The second win of the season matches Yeshiva's win total for the entire 2008 season.
Yeshiva swept the match 30-19, 30-13, and 30-17 to win their second consecutive match.
Grauman and Kahana combined for 21 of Yeshiva's 35 kills, and the Maccabees also received a terrific offensive effort from sophomore Rafi Herskovits (Hamilton, Ontario/Or Chaim), who registered six kills and six service aces.
Overall, Yeshiva hit .187 as a team and combined for 23 service aces, including a season-high nine service aces by senior Joseph Bajtner (Skokie, IL/Ida Crown Jewish Academy), who also had 16 assists.
The Maccabees return to action on Thursday, Jan. 29 when they host Lehman College for an 8:00 p.m. start at the Max Stern Athletics Center.
