NEW YORK, NY – The men's basketball team had a tough night connected on their shots Saturday night against Maritime College, sending the Macs to a 60-43 home loss. The Maccabees are currently 6-8 (5-5) while Maritime improved to 10-4 (8-3).
The first half of play was a low scoring, 21-13 affair, during which the Macs shot 26% from the field and connected on only one three point basket out of the 9 they attempted. However, the Privateers shot only 32%, which allowed Yeshiva to be within range after the opening 20 minutes.
For most of the second half, Yeshiva was able to remain within striking distance, until the 13 minute mark when Maritime began to pull away.
Chen Biron hit Yeshiva's second three pointer to bring his team within 8 with 4:49 to play, but they would get no closer. Biron's two three's (one in each half) were the only ones from Yeshiva all night.
Martin Leibovich made it six straight games scoring in double figures, scoring 12 Saturday night.
Dovie Hoffman added 8 off the bench, while Biron and
Udi Volkov added 6 each.
The Macs have another three game week coming up, the first of which is Monday evening at NYU-Poly. That game will begin at 8PM.
