Seniors Get Victory in Final Home Game over NYU-Poly 60-50

Seniors (L-R) Claster, Magilnick, Gilboa, Leibovich
NEW YORK, NY – Four seniors played their final home game of their career Sunday afternoon, and came out with a 60-50 win over NYU-Poly. The Macs ended the regular season at 12-13 (11-9) and will play on Tuesday at Purchase in the Skyline Quarterfinals.

Senior Martin Leibovich led all scorers with 25 points in 36 minutes played. Aryeh Magilnick was 2-5 from 3-pt. range, and finished with 6 points. David Gilboa had 3 steals and 3 rebounds in his final home game. Alex Claster, Yeshiva's 4th senior, started the game but a previous injury allowed him only a minute on the court. Omer Haim had a strong game, scoring 9 points, making 7 steals, assisting on 6 baskets, and pulling down 7 rebounds. Dovie Hoffman had 15 points in 21 minutes.

The teams battled back and forth during the opening 8 minutes, with neither team leading by more than two. A 13-2 run by the Maccabees opened up the game to a 10 point lead for Yeshiva with just under 8 minutes to play. NYU-Poly cut into that lead and Yeshiva led by 6 at the half, 26-20.

The Bluejays came out in the second half and immediately tied the game at 26. Once again, Yeshiva went on a 12-0 run to regain a double digit lead. NYU-Poly cut the lead down to 6, but that was as close as they would get.

As the 6th seed in the Skyline Tournament, the Macs will travel to Purchase on Tuesday for the first round game at 8PM. The winner of the game will travel to second seeded St. Joseph's on Thursday.
