NEW YORK, NY – The baseball team traveled to Old Westbury for a Skyline double header Wednesday evening and were denied their first win of the season with 5-0 and 17-4 losses. The Maccabees are 0-11 (0-8) while Old Westbury sits at 4-8 (2-2) on the season.
David Kesselman continued his strong pitching this season, going 7 innings and giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 9 hits. He struck out 1 while walking nobody. He faced 28 batters before giving way to
Howard Avner who finished the game allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. The Macs were held to three hits, two from leadoff hitter
Seth Fein and one from
Jeremy Schwartz.
In the second game,
Adam Volk started on the mound and went 4+ innings allowing 11 hits and 9 runs (8 earned).
Zachary Weiner finished the game giving up 8 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits and a walk. The Macs managed only 4 hits; two from Schwartz including a double, and two from
Elie Baratz.
Yeshiva was within a run at 3-2 in the 4th inning, but a 10-run bottom of the 5th for Old Westbury broke the game open. The Panthers managed 19 hits in game 2, while Yeshiva struggled in the field with 6 errors.
The team has a break until April 11th when they host Mount Saint Vincent at noon. The games will be played at Taft HS.
