NEW YORK, NY – The baseball team traveled to John Jay College for a double header on Wednesday, and came within a run of their first win. They dropped the first game 4-3 and the second 14-4 despite 7 stolen bases and a homerun.
In game one,
David Kesselman pitched the entire game, allowing only 4 runs on 10 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 5 of the 30 batters faced. Yeshiva got hits from 5 different players, including a 2-hit performance from
Howard Avner. Avner and
Drew Feld each batted in a run, and the Macs stole 5 bases in the game.
Jeremy Schwartz had 2, along with Avner.
In the second game, rain prevented the game from going the full 7 innings, and the game was called after 5. Yosef Ciment was Yeshiva's pitcher, pitching 4 innings and giving up 13 earned runs on 12 hits. He struck out 2.
Jeremy Schwartz hit his first homerun of the season, a shot over the left-center field wall that scored 3. The blast gave Yeshiva a 4-2 advantage at the time. Schwartz finished the game with 2 hits, the only hits registered by Yeshiva.
