Box Score NEW YORK, NY – The men's basketball team won their second straight contest, this time defeating NYU-Poly on the road 73-53. It is the second straight Skyline Conference win, as the Macs defeated Mount Saint Vincent Saturday night. Yeshiva improves to 2-6 (2-2) on the season, while NYU-Poly is still winless at 0-7 (0-3).
Similar to their last win, two Maccabees recorded double-doubles.
Shlomo Weissberg recorded his second straight with 14 points and 12 boards, and
Omer Haim scored 10 points and dished out 10 assists.
Dovie Hoffman pitched in with his second straight 20-point game and
Chen Biron scored 14. The Macs were 20-24 from the free throw line and shot 47% from the field. Their defense limited the Bluejays to 27% shooting with only one player scoring in double figures.
After some early back-and-forth play, the Macs took control of the game at the 16 minute mark, scoring 16 unanswered points, and taking a 22-6 lead. The Macs led by as much as 18 in the first half after Biron hit a three pointer with 1:22 remaining in the half, and eventually went into halftime with a 17 point edge.
The second half lead hovered around 19 points for Yeshiva, with the lead reaching as much as 25 late in the game.
Netanel Weinstein hit two free throws with 8 seconds remaining to give Yeshiva the 20 point win. The Macs only trailed on two occasions; the opening points off the tip and a brief 4-3 score at the 17:49 mark.
Yeshiva will look to make it three in a row when they travel to Mount Saint Mary on the 7
th for an 8PM game. Mount Saint Mary is currently 3-3 (0-2) on the season.
