NEW YORK, NY – Four Maccabees scored in double figures as the Macs cruised to a 77-57 Skyline win over the visiting NYU-Polytechnic Bluejays Sunday afternoon. The win moves Yeshiva to 4-15 (4-11) on the season. NYU-Poly is still looking for their first win at 0-20 (0-15).
Dovie Hoffman led all scorers with 18 points, followed by
Chen Biron with 16 and
Gil Bash with 14.
Jeremy Pressman added 12.
Omer Haim had 11 assists. As a team, the Macs shot 47.4% from the field and over 58% from behind the arc. Yeshiva held a 36-29 rebounding edge and forced 19 turnovers.
The Bluejays looked nothing like a team in search of their first win in the opening minutes, connecting on a 3-pointer to open the scoring and erasing two early leads by the Macs of as many as 5 points. However, it didn't take much longer for Yeshiva to take control, as the Macs opened the game up with a 26-15 lead midway through the half. Yeshiva pushed the lead to as much as 15 before heading into the half with a 13 point advantage.
The second half was as Yeshiva, as Hoffman scored 5 of the first 7 points of the half and get the lead to 20, where it stayed for most of the game.
Simon Brookim gave Yeshiva its largest lead, 25, on a fast break layup at the 13:02 mark. The Bluejays came no closer than 19 points the rest of the way, and eventually fell by 20.
Yeshiva is in the middle of a 4 game home stretch, with their next opponent being St. Joseph's on Tuesday at 8PM. They will then host Mount Saint Mary on the 10th at 8PM before going on the road to Sage College.
