Box Score NEW YORK, NY – The men's basketball team erased a 14 point halftime deficit and pulled to within 3 points midway through the second half, but the Knights from Mount Saint Mary held on for the 74-60 conference win in the MSAC. The Macs drop to 2-13 (2-7) while the Knights improved to 13-4 (8-2).
Yeshiva was led by
Gil Bash who recorded 15 points coming off the bench.
Dovie Hoffman chipped in with 13 points and 7 rebounds, while
Omer Haim finished the game with 9 points and 6 assists.
Benjamin Ritholtz played 25 solid minutes off the bench, scoring 7 and pulling down 3 boards.
The Knights never trailed in the game, opening with a 10-2 run. After a jumper by Ritholtz midway through the first half, the Macs found themselves within 2 points of a tie, but that proved to be the closest they would come in the game. Mount Saint Mary scored the next 7, and closed the half on a 19-7 run to take a 36-22 lead into the locker room.
Yeshiva scored the first 9 points of the second half and pulled to within 3 points at the 6:39 mark, but were unable to overcome the 14 point halftime deficit. As a team, the Macs shot 48% from the field in the second half, and held the Knights to 35% shooting. Yeshiva out-rebounded Mount Saint Mary 37-31 in the game and 12-10 on the offensive boards. The difference in the game came from the free throw line, where the Knights were 24-29 and Yeshiva was 8-11.
The Macs are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Albany to take on the Sage College Gators. Tip-off is set for 3:00PM.
