Dovie Hoffman (Tarzana, Calif.) and junior guard
Benjy Ritholtz (W. Hempstead, N.Y.) each poured in 14 points Monday night at Max Stern Athletic Center, but it was not enough for the Yeshiva University men's basketball team, which fell in its Skyline Conference and home opener by a 72-51 count to undefeated Purchase College.
Hoffman, vying to become the 25th player in YU men's basketball history to accumulate 1,000 career points, now has 887 in his storied career in a Maccabees uniform. He led the hosts with seven rebounds, and shot 6-for-15 from the field in 24 minutes of action.
Ritholtz was 4-for-11 from 3-point range on the night, and now leads the team in scoring with a 15.0 points per game average, while hitting on 11-of-24 3-point field goals (.458) thus far on the season.
Senior forward
Gil Bash (Tel Aviv, Israel) was 4-for-7 from the field en route to nine points, and added a team-high five assists in the passing game.
Head coach Dr. Jonathan Halpert's Yeshiva side is back in action Thursday night (Nov. 29), when they travel to midtown Manhattan for an 8 p.m., non-conference tip-off at Baruch College.
