Hot Second-Half Start Not Enough for Men's Basketball vs. Mount Saint Mary

NEW YORK - The Yeshiva University men's basketball team hit its first seven field-goal attempts to start the second half, helping the host Maccabees to a 19-4 run to cut its deficit to 38-37 with 11:52 remaining against Mount Saint Mary College in Skyline Conference action Monday night at the Max Stern Athletic Center. However, the visiting Blue Knights pulled away with a 7-for-13 display from 3-point range in the second half, en route to a 73-50 triumph over YU.

For the second straight outing, Yeshiva shot 50 percent from the field (20-for-40), including a 6-for-9, 13-point display from junior guard Benjy Ritholtz (W. Hempstead, N.Y.) and a 6-for-11, 14-point outing from senior forward Dovie Hoffman (Tarzana, Calif.). Fellow senior Gil Bash (Tel Aviv, Israel) ffilled the stat sheet with eight points, seven rebounds and a team-best six assists, while junior big man Shlomo Weissberg (Skokie, Ill.) contributed nine points, seven caroms and two steals.

Head coach Dr. Jonathan Halpert's Maccabees are back in Skyline Conference action Thursday night (Dec. 6), when they play host to Maritime College in the Max Stern Athletic Center at 8 p.m.
