Men's Basketball Powers Past the College of Mount Saint Vincent

RIVERDALE, N.Y.— The Yeshiva men's basketball team picked up a key Skyline Conference win on Thursday evening as the Maccabees beat the College of Mount Saint Vincent (CMSV) 59-53.
 
The win is the third of the season for the Maccabees as they improve to 3-5 (2-3 Skyline) overall. CMSV is now 1-6 (0-3 Skyline).
 
Yisrael Feld led the way for the Maccabees in the victory. He netted a game-high 27 points, along with six rebounds. Meanwhile Benjy Ritholtz added 11 points in the win.
 
CMSV was led by Kevin Henry and Gerard Fraser with 14 points each. Fraser grabbed 10 rebounds as well.
 
The host Dolphins led early in the contest and had an eight point lead at halftime as CMSV led 30-22 at the break.
 
CMSV increased its lead early in the second half to 11 and was up 33-22. But the Maccabees answered with a 14-0 run to take a 36-33 lead with 10:49 to play, and Yeshiva never trailed again. The Maccabees increased their lead the rest of the half en route to victory. Yeshiva led by as much as eight late in the final stanza before the game ended.
 
Yeshiva committed three fewer turnovers as the Maccabees gave the ball away 11 times compared to 14 for the Dolphins. But Yeshiva made the most of its opportunities and outscored CMSV 17-8 on points off turnovers.
 
Yeshiva is back in action on Saturday for a home contest against Lehman College at 8:30 p.m.
