Feld and Ritholtz Combine for 37 but Men's Basketball Falls to Lehman

NEW YORK, N.Y.— The Yeshiva men's basketball team was defeated by Lehman College 67-53 at the Max Stern Athletic Center in a Saturday evening non conference tilt.
 
Yeshiva (3-6) was led by Yisrael Feld with 21 points, while Benjy Ritholtz added 16 and seven rebounds. Shlomo Weissberg added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Maccabees. Lehman (6-3) was led by Brandon Stolz with 21 points and six steals. Teammate Kevan Proctor added six points, five steals and 11 rebounds, while Stanley Stephens had 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting.
 
Lehman shot 54 percent (27-for-50) from the floor and forced the Maccabees into a season high 19 turnovers. As a unit, Lehman earned 16 steals in the contest, held a 22-2 advantage on fast break points and 42-20 edge on points in the paint.
 
Lehman opened a big lead early in the contest and led 27-11 with 6:35 remaining in the first half. The Maccabees made a swift run at the lead and outscored the Lightning 12-3 over the final stages of the half to go into halftime down 30-23.
 
The seven point deficit at halftime was as close as Yeshiva got. Lehman gradually increased its lead through the second half, connecting on key possessions to keep Yeshiva at bay. The Lightning led by as much as 18 in the second half and was up by that margin with 8:44 to go as Lehman led 57-39.
 
Yeshiva held a 31-29 rebounding edge, and the Maccabees were a perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line.
 
Yeshiva is back in action on Tuesday for a Skyline Conference game at Farmingdale State at 8 p.m.
