ALBANY, N.Y.— The Yeshiva men's basketball team lost a close one on the road Sunday afternoon as the Maccabees fell 73-70 at Sage College in a Skyline Conference contest.
The loss drops Yeshiva to 2-5 (1-3 Skyline), while Sage is now 5-3 (2-1 Skyline).
The Maccabees got strong performances out of
Yisrael Feld and
Benjy Ritholtz. The duo combined for 49 of the squad's total points. Feld led all scorers with 28, while Ritholtz added 21.
Sage was led by Melvin Ford with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Both teams shot very well as the Maccabees connected on 25 of 55 for a 45.5 percent clip, including 16-for-31 (51.6 percent) in the second half. The host Gators connected on 51.8 percent for the contest (29-for-56), including an impressive 59.1 percent (13-for-22) in the second half.
Both teams protected the ball well as the game only saw 15 turnovers combined. The Maccabees committed seven and the Gators eight. Both schools scored 12 points off turnovers.
Sage held a 50-14 advantage on points in the paint.
Yeshiva is back in action on Tuesday for a home Skyline Conference contest against twenty-fifth ranked Purchase College at 8 p.m.
