Rebecca Yoshor and
Haley David closed out marvelous Yeshiva athletics careers in grand fashion on Tuesday both posting double-doubles and leading Yeshiva to and a nice season ending win as the Maccabees closed out 2013-14 with an 83-80 win at NYU Poly.
Yeshiva finished the season with a 7-12 overall record. NYU Poly, meanwhile, falls to 2-20 on the year.
Yoshor scored 20 points and grabbed 20 rebounds, while
Haley David netted a team-high 23 points and had 15 rebounds. Fellow senior,
Naomi Gofine added nine points, with seven rebounds and two assists.
Stephanie Greenberg scored 18 points and had eight rebounds.
NYU Poly was led by Alyssa D'Apice with 28 points, five rebounds, six assists and five steals. Teammate Tabitha Larson had an almost identical stat-line with 25 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals.
The lead changed hands eight times in the first half, and the first twenty minutes saw three ties. Yeshiva jumped out to an 11-0 lead and led 46-43 at halftime. The Maccabees opened the second half on an 8-3 run to take a 54-46 lead with less than two minutes gone by. From there the Maccabees never trailed again.
Yeshiva held a 69-40 rebounding edge, including 26-12 on the offensive end, and the Maccabees held a 24-8 advantage on second chance points.
