NEW YORK, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team earned its first win of the season in its 2014 home and Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Conference (HVIAC) opener with a sweep over Sarah Lawrence College (25-12, 25-19, 25-14) on Tuesday evening.
 
The win improves the Maccabees to 1-5 (1-0 HVIAC). Sarah Lawrence is now 0-13 (0-1 HVIAC).
 
Yeshiva was led by Menachem Goldstein with 13 kills (one error) on 17 attack attempts for a .706 attack percentage, to go along with two solo blocks and a block assist. Meanwhile fellow teammate Jared Rechnitz added six kills, five digs and four service aces. Benjamin Mann and Eliakim Gartenberg had four kills each, while Adam Rhodes had 28 assists.
 
Sarah Lawrence was led by Ishaan Pujari with nine kills and four digs. Cameron Martinez chipped in with five kills for the Gryphons.
 
Yeshiva is back in action on Thursday for a home Skyline Conference tilt with New Jersey City University, Thursday at 7 p.m.
