Softball Sweeps Sarah Lawrence College, 16-4 and 11-6

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.— The softball team upped its winning streak to four games as the Maccabees beat Sarah Lawrence College in both games of a doubleheader, beating the Gryphons 16-4 in game one and 11-6 in game two. Yeshiva is now 4-3 this season.
 
In the first game, the Maccabees jumped all over Sarah Lawrence with five runs in the top of the first. After the Gryphons got a run back in the bottom half of the inning, Yeshiva scored two more in the top of the second and another four in the top of the third to take an 11-1 lead after two and a half innings, and the Maccabees coasted the rest of the way.
 
Yeshiva hammered out 11 hits in game one and was led by Rachel Mirsky who was 3-for-4 with a double, a homerun, three runs and a run batted in. Meanwhile Erin Potasnick went 2-for-4 with a homerun, three runs and three runs batted in. Melissa Appel went 2-for-3 with four runs batted in, and Merav Saden Barach went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and two runs.
 
Rena Genauer took the ball in game one and allowed four runs (none earned) on four hits, while striking out two.
 
In the second game, Yeshiva trailed 3-1 going into the third inning, before scoring seven in the top of the third to push ahead 8-3 en route to completing the sweep.
 
Saden Barach and Potasnick both had three hits in the nightcap. Saden Barach had a triple and a run batted in, while Potasnick had two doubles and three runs batted in. Mirsky and Appel both added homeruns in the second game.
 
Mirsky pitched game two and allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits.
