Box Score 2 PALISADES, N.J.— The Yeshiva baseball team was swept in a non conference doubleheader on Friday morning losing to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 8-1 and 26-0 at Overpeck Park – Palisades.
The Maccabees had five hits in the opener, and Yeshiva's lone run came in the first inning.
Elan Paul led the way in game one for the Maccabees with two hits. Meanwhile
Zev Friend,
Joseph Miller and
Zachary Perl had one hit each. Yeshiva's first inning run came on a ground out by Perl that scored
Jake Frankel who led off the bottom of the first with a walk.
St. Joseph's-Brooklyn was led by Mike Cundari who was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and three runs batted in.
Paul took the mound for Yeshiva in game one and suffered the loss after going seven innings and allowing eight runs (three earned) on seven hits, while striking out three batters.
In the second game, the visiting Bears scored at least one run in each inning. They scored five in the top of the first en route to a 26 run – 23 hit game.
St. Joseph's-Brooklyn hit seven triples in the second game and nine extra base hits in all. Chris Cutrone led the way for the Bears by going 3-for-4 with two triples and seven runs batted in.
Yeshiva had three hits in the nightcap with one each coming off the bat of Paul,
Jonathan Berger and
Ephraim Botwinick.
Sean O'Melia went the distance for St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, while walking none and striking out five.
Zev Weisinger suffered the loss in game two.
Yeshiva is back in action on Sunday for a doubleheader against NYU Poly at Overpeck Park – Ridgefield at noon.
