Box Score 2 BRONX, N.Y.— The Yeshiva softball team was swept in a doubleheader at Lehman College on Friday morning, losing by scores of 10-5 and 11-1.
Yeshiva is now 4-5 overall this season.
In the opener, Yeshiva broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning with a pair of runs. First
Rebecca Kleiner (2-for-4) singled to bring home
Melissa Appel. Then moments later
Deena Miller scored on a Lehman error.
The host Lightning scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 4-2 and Lehman led the rest of the way. Yeshiva scored one run in each of the final three innings, but Lehman scored three in the bottom of the fifth, followed by another three in the bottom of the sixth to increase its lead.
In the top of the fifth,
Merav Saden Barach (1-for-4) doubled and on the same play scored after a Lehman error. Then in the top of the sixth, Kleiner got her second run batted in of the game after a single to bring home
Rachel Mirsky, who got on base via a walk.
With the score 10-4 Lehman going into the seventh, Yeshiva cut its deficit in half when
Erin Potasnick (1-for-4), who doubled, later scored on Lehman's fifth error of the game.
Lehman was led by Jelsey Cox who was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in.
In the second game, Lehman scored four runs in the bottom of the first and another three in the second to take a 7-0 lead after two innings.
Yeshiva's lone run in game two came in the top of the third when
Rena Genauer scored on a single by
Lieba Swartz-Brownstein, who was 2-for-2 in the nightcap. Yeshiva is back in action on Sunday for a doubleheader against Globe Institute at Monsignor McClancy High School at 11 a.m.
