EDGEWATER, N.J. --- The Yeshiva University women's tennis team's 2015 season came to a conclusion on Wednesday night in the semifinals of the Skyline Conference Championships, as they lost to visiting St. Joseph's College – Long Island 5-4 in a match played at the Binghamton Racquet Club in Edgewater, New Jersey.
Yeshiva sophomore
Shani Hava (Petach Tikva, Israel / Brener) completed her season going undefeated in singles play. Hava won 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles, running her 2015 record to 7-0, without so much as a lost set. Hava teamed with junior
Tzipora Leiser (Teaneck, N.J. / Ma'ayanot) to win at number one doubles, 8-2.
Down 4-2 late in singles play, Yeshiva needed two gut-check wins to stay alive. Junior
Lindsay Frucher (Lawrence, N.Y. / HAFTR) prevailed at number six while senior
Ayala Carl (Teaneck, N.J. / Ma'ayanot) tied the match at four wins apiece with a victory at number four singles. The final match of the night at number three singles went past midnight as senior
Jannah Eichenbaum (Oceanside, N.Y. / SKA) played a marathon match that ultimately went to Saint Joseph's in a heart-breaking tie-breaker.
The Golden Eagles (13-2) advance to the conference finals to face top-seeded Farmingdale State. For the Maccabees (6-4), it was the first time Yeshiva had been ranked as high as second going into the conference playoffs.
