Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva Maccabees men's basketball team opened up the Skyline portion of its schedule with a hard-fought 68-58 loss to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, at the Max Stern Athletic Center, on Tuesday evening. The Maccabees fall to 0-1 in conference play, while the Dolphins start off 1-0 in Skyline contests.
The leading scorer for the Maccabees was freshman guard
Jamie Cappell who scored 14 points. Senior forward
Shelby Rosenberg added 13 points, with four rebounds, and three blocks.
The Maccabees trailed by as many as 16 in the second half, but would slowly start to chip away at the Dolphins' lead. A three-point basket by Rosenberg shrunk Yeshiva's deficit to 47-35, with 15:35 remaining in regulation time. Just over a minute later, junior guard
Jordan Hod sprinted down the court and laid the ball up and in to pull the Maccabees within ten.

Dean Pienica hit back-to-back shots from beyond the arc to shrink Mount Saint Vincent's advantage to 50-45, with 10:36 left in the game. With under three minutes remaining, Rosenberg attacked inside and successfully converted a layup to narrow the Dolphin's lead to 59-54. From that point on, Mount Saint Vincent swung momentum its way by going on a 9-4 run to clinch the victory, 68-58.
In the opening half, Yeshiva had the lead early. Freshman guard
Judah Cohen successfully converted a three-point field goal to put the home team up, 9-7. After a pair of free throws by Rosenberg made it 11-9 Yeshiva, Mount Saint Vincent went on a 7-0 run to take the lead for good.
For the contest, Weiss produced nine points, grabbed five boards, and had just as many assists. Freshman forward
Michael Hayon scored eight points, while Hod scored six.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Monday, for a road Skyline contest against Mount Saint Mary, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
