Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's basketball team earned its second Skyline victory in a row against Mount Saint Mary, 75-53, at the Max Stern Athletic Center on Saturday evening.
Yeshiva
(9-7, 7-4 Skyline) had balanced scoring as senior forward
Shelby Rosenberg scored a game-high 13 points and shot 6-8 from the field. Senior forward
Joseph Ammar and freshman guard
Judah Cohen each tallied 11 points. Junior forward
Michael Berg produced eight points, grabbed just as many rebounds, and dished out a game-high four assists, while senior guard
Shaje Weiss had eight points of his own. Freshman forward
Michael Hayon added seven points.
After falling behind, 6-5, early in the contest, the Maccabees scored nine unanswered points, capped of by Berg's two-point field goal, to take the lead for good, 14-6, with 12:12 left in the first half. Yeshiva held Mount Saint Mary (7-12, 5-10 Skyline) to eight minutes without a field goal during the opening half.
The Maccabees dominated the second half as well, outscoring the Knights 43-32. Rosenberg connected on a three-point field goal to give Yeshiva a 37-23 lead early in the frame. With less than a minute remaining, junior forward
Dean Pienica converted a layup to give the Maccabees their largest lead of the contest, 75-53, and that would be the final score.
Yeshiva will travel to SUNY Maritime on Monday, for a Skyline battle with the Privateers. The game is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m.
