Box Score 2 BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team earned a split in the Skyline Conference Tri-Match, hosted by St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn, on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees earned a conference win over the host Bears, 3-1, but fell to New Jersey City University in straight sets.
In the match against St. Joseph's Brooklyn, set scores were 25-23, 25-22, 17-25, and 25-19. The Maccabees were led by sophomore outside hitter
Michael Klein, who produced a double-double by slamming home a career high 11 kills, tallied just as many digs, and added four blocks. Classmate
Itai Guttman added nine kills with four blocks of his own. Sophomore setter
Avraham Kohanzadeh helped anchor the defense with 20 digs and chipped in on offense with five service aces. Freshman middle blocker
Jonathan Korman added seven kills, while senior setter
Jonathan Goldstein had a team-high 27 assists.
In the match against NJCU, set scores were 25-21, 25-7, and 25-8. Klein added five more kills, while sophomore right-side hitter
Mathew Rosenberg and Korman each slammed home three. Sophomore outside hitter
Max Glaser produced 11 assists and four digs, while Klein added just as many digs of his own.
Yeshiva's home opener is scheduled for Wednesday against Kean, at the Max Stern Athletic Center, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
