Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team lost a hard-fought game to the Sage Colleges, 61-49, at Kahl Gym on Sunday afternoon.

The Maccabees (1-19, 0-14 Skyline) were led by senior forward
Julia Owen, who scored 16 points and forced six steals. Sophomore forward
Michal Alge tallied eight points, grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, and forced four steals. Junior forward
Simee Rosner added seven points, while senior guard
Ester Kerzner dished out a team-high three assists.

After falling behind 8-1, two three-point baskets by Owen sparked an 11-1 run that catapulted Yeshiva to a 12-9 lead. The Gators (19-5, 14-1 Skyline) were able to tie the game at 12, and that would be the score at the end of one quarter of play.

The Maccabees opened the second quarter on the right note, thanks to a jumper by Rosner to put Yeshiva in front, 14-12. That would be the last time the Maccabees held the lead as the Gators scored six unanswered points to go up 18-14, with 6:09 remaining in the half. Yeshiva kept the contest close, trailing only by four at the half, 28-24.

In the latter half of the third quarter, Sage began to pull away, building an 11-point advantage at the end of 30 minutes of play. With less than five minutes remaining in regulation time, junior guard
Tess Blaustein laid the ball up and in to pull Yeshiva within single digits, at 54-45. After Sage countered with a three-pointer, Yeshiva answered by scoring four unanswered points, thanks to back-to-back layups by Rosner, to narrow the Gators' lead to 57-49, with 2:54 remaining. That was as close as the Maccabees would get, as Sage scored the game's final four points to win the contest, 61-49.

Yeshiva will be back in action on Wednesday, for a Skyline Conference tilt against St. Joseph's College of Long Island, at the ARC Arena beginning at 8:00 p.m.
