Box Score 2 BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team earned a split at the Skyline Conference Tri-Match on the campus of Sarah Lawrence College on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees fell to the Panthers of Purchase College, 3-0, but bounced back to defeat Sarah Lawrence in straight sets.
In the opening match against Purchase, set scores were 25-12, 25-13, and 25-18. Leading the attack for the Maccabees was senior outside hitter
Kolya Miller and sophomore middle blocker
Itai Guttman, who each slammed home five kills. Classmate
Mathew Rosenberg produced four kills of his own, while sophomore outside hitter
Michael Klein scored three service aces.
Leading the way on defense was Klein, who produced nine digs, while Miller added eight. Senior setter
Jonathan Goldstein helped anchor the defense with seven digs, while chipping in on offense with 11 assists. Sophomore outside hitter
Max Glaser added seven assists of his own.
In Yeshiva's (2-8, 2-4 Skyline) straight set win over host Sarah Lawrence, set scores were 25-13, 25-18, and 25-17. Guttman added nine more kills, while Klein added seven. Rosenberg produced five kills and three assists, while Goldstein had a match-high 16 assists. Rosenberg scored four service aces, while Klein and sophomore right-side hitter
Moshe Zippel each recorded two.
On defense, Miller produced 10 digs. Rosenberg tallied six digs and two blocks, while Klein helped neutralize the Gryphons' attack with four digs and two blocks. Guttman had four blocks of his own.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Wednesday, for a non-conference match against Bard College at the Max Stern Athletic Center, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
