Box Score 2 BRONX, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University softball team earned a split against Lehman College, to open the 2016 season, at Fordham University on Sunday evening. Yeshiva won the first game, 10-5, but dropped the second contest, 13-2.

In the first game, Yeshiva trailed 5-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth. The Maccabees rallied for six runs in the frame, all with two outs, to jump out to a 10-5 lead. Down to their last out for the inning, senior outfielder
Merav Saden Barach ripped a double to right-center field. Sophomore first baseman
Michal Alge drove her in with a single to tie the game at five. Thanks to an error by the Lehman second baseman, Alge scored the eventual game-winning run. Senior pitcher
Rachel Mirsky eventually scored on a double by junior utility player
Hannah Dubin to make it 7-5 Yeshiva. Junior first baseman
Lieba Swartz-Brownstein capped off the scoring later in the frame, by driving in two runs on a single, to extend the Maccabees' lead to 10-5.

Mirsky pitched a complete game in the circle, giving up three earned runs, while striking out five hitters in seven innings pitched to earn the win. At the plate, senior shortstop
Rebecca Kleiner scored two runs on two hits. Classmate
Erin Potasnick scored one run, while Saden Barach crossed home plate three times. Senior outfielder
Rachel Siegel drew a walk with the bases loaded for the RBI.

In the second game, Lehman scored five runs in the top of the first and never looked back. Kleiner provided Yeshiva's offense with an RBI double in the bottom of the second, while Mirsky produced a sacrifice fly to score Saden Barach. In the circle, Potasnick took the loss.

Yeshiva will return to Fordham University on Tuesday, for a non-conference doubleheader against New Jersey City University. First pitch will be thrown at 7:00 p.m.Â
