Box Score 2 PALISADES PARK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University baseball team dropped both ends of its Skyline Conference doubleheader to St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn, at the Palisades Park Baseball Field, on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees dropped game one, 12-1, and fell in the second game, 9-2.
In the opening game, Yeshiva got its lone run thanks to an RBI single by senior first baseman
Benjamin Barman that scored classmate
Zachary Perl with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. It would not be enough as the Bears scored six runs in the first, on their way to the victory.
For the contest, Perl went two-for-two, including a triple. Sophomore designated hitter
Chad Shapiro launched a double, while junior outfielder
Chaim Rosenberg, junior second baseman
Shmuli Goldis, and senior outfielder
Ari Schanzer each produced a single. Sophomore pitcher
Mordechai Cohen started the game and took the loss for Yeshiva, but pitched a complete game.
In the second game, Perl picked up an RBI for the Maccabees (0-20, 0-10 Skyline) in the bottom of the sixth, on a ground ball that scored Rosenberg. Earlier in the game, Schanzer scored Yeshiva's first run on a passed ball. He also started the game on the mound, picking up one strikeout in 5.1 innings pitched to take the loss. Junior pitcher
Rephael Rosenberg pitched 1.2 innings in relief, giving up just one earned run.
The Maccabees will be back in action on Tuesday, for a single non-conference game against Vaughn, at Palisades Park, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
