Box Score 2 PALISADES PARK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University baseball team earned its first two wins of the season, over Vaughn College, at Palisades Park on Thursday evening. The Maccabees won the first game, 11-7, while winning the second contest, 21-4. Yeshiva's 21 runs in game two are the most runs scored in a single game in the history of the program. The previous record was 19 runs scored in 2009 against NYU-Poly. Yeshiva won that contest, 19-15.
In the opening contest, Yeshiva scored seven runs in the opening inning. Junior shortstop
Josh Gurin drilled an RBI triple, scoring sophomore pitcher
Ari Schanzer, to put the Maccabees up 1-0. He would eventually score, thanks to a sacrifice bunt by junior infielder
Shmuli Goldis. Senior infielder
Etan Bardash also produced an RBI single in the frame.
After Vaughn scored two runs, Yeshiva answered back in the bottom of the third, thanks to an RBI single by Schanzer with two outs, scoring freshman catcher
Eli Profeta, to make it 8-2 in favor of the Maccabees. The Warriors scored three runs in the top of the fourth to slice their deficit in half. In the home half of the sixth, senior first baseman
Zachary Perl drove in a run on a single, scoring Schanzer to extend Yeshiva's lead to 9-5. Junior outfielder
Chaim Rosenberg produced an RBI on a groundout in the frame.
Vaughn scored two more times in the top of the seventh, but Schanzer got Jonathan Hernandez to strike out looking, clinching Yeshiva's first win of the season.
For the game, Schanzer went two-for-three at the plate, scoring two runs, drove one in, and stole a base. On the mound, he earned the complete game victory, striking out nine batters in seven innings pitched.
In game two, Yeshiva once again had a big first inning, scoring six runs in the opening frame. The highlight of the inning was a two-run single produced by junior pitcher
Rephael Rosenberg.
Chaim Rosenberg also produced an RBI during the frame.
After Perl led off the second with a triple, Goldis drove him in with a single. Gurin followed up with a triple of his own to score Goldis. Sophomore utility player
Mordechai Cohen put a cap on the inning by producing an RBI single to make it 9-0, Yeshiva (2-26).
After Vaughn (1-7) scored two runs in the top of the third, Yeshiva answered with eight in the bottom frame. Goldis produced an RBI single on two separate occasions in the inning.

Binyamin Bromberg each produced a walk with the bases loaded to earn one RBI each.
Rephael Rosenberg ended the game by getting Amfrey Sanchez to strike out swinging, to help the Maccabees earn the sweep. For the contest,

Goldis also went four-for-five with four runs batted in and two runs scored. Schanzer added three hits with three runs scored and two runs batted in, while Gurin had two hits. Benjamin Barman produced a single.
