FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's tennis team earned a victory in its Skyline Conference opener over Purchase College, 6-1, at Queens College on Tuesday evening. The Maccabees remain undefeated at 3-0 overall, and 1-0 in Skyline play.
"This was a talented opponent," Yeshiva head coach
Naomi Kaszovitz said of Purchase. "The players had to give it their all, which they did, securing their first Skyline win. "
The Maccabees won two out of three doubles matches and went undefeated in singles competition. Junior
Shani Hava teamed with senior
Tzipora Leiser to win a competitive #1 doubles contest, 8-6. Senior
Anita Levy and sophomore
Rebecca Packer won their #3 doubles match in convincing fashion, 8-1.
In singles play, Hava cruised to a win in the first flight, 6-1, 6-2. Packer continues her outstanding start to her collegiate career, by winning every game in both sets. Senior
Lindsay Frucher was victorious at #5 singles, 6-1, and 7-5, while Levy won the sixth singles contest, 6-1, 6-0.
The Maccabees will remain at Queens College on Thursday, for a Skyline match against St. Joseph's College – Brooklyn. Match time is 8:00 p.m. and it will be a home match for the Bears.
