POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's fencing team competed in the Vassar Invitational, at the Walker Field House, on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees earned a win over the University of Incarnate Word, 15-12, while dropping matches to host Vassar College (23-4), Sacred Heart University (25-2), Hunter College (15-12), Army (18-9), Haverford College (20-7), and Stevens Institute of Technology (23-4).
Senior
Spencer Brasch was the leader in foil, as he earned nine NCAA victories. The Chicago native won two out of three foil bouts over Vassar, won all three duels against Hunter, went 2-1 against Stevens, and earned one win against both the University of Incarnate Word and Haverford. Brasch won all three non-NCAA bouts over Army. Sophomore
Herschel Siegel earned three victories in his collegiate fencing debut.
Leading the way for the Maccabees (1-6) in sabre was newcomer
Noah Sragow, who won eight NCAA bouts. Along with Brasch, Sragow has now earned the minimum number of wins (six) needed to qualify for the NCAA Northeast regional in March. He won all three sabre bouts over Hunter, went 2-1 against Haverford, and earned a win in each team duel against Vassar, Sacred Heart, and Incarnate Word. Sragow added a pair of non-NCAA wins over Army. Senior

In epee, junior
Nolan Edmonson won two out of three bouts over Hunter, earned a win over Army, went 2-1 over Haverford, and won a duel over Stevens. Freshman

James Alavosus each earned a win over Hunter. Alavosus went 2-1 over Army, while sophomore
Benjamin Snow picked up a win in the same team duel. Senior
Abraham Budow added a win over Haverford.
The men's fencing team will compete in the MACFA "A" vs. "B" event on Sunday, at Hunter College, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
