Box Score 2 UNION, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team earned a split in a Skyline Conference Tri-Match, held on the campus of Kean University, on Sunday afternoon. Yeshiva earned its first Skyline win of the season over Sarah Lawrence College, in straight sets, but fell to Kean by a score of 3-0.
In the opening match against Sarah Lawrence, set scores were 25-19, 25-22, and 25-14. In the first set, the Maccabees (3-9, 1-2 Skyline) went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by kills from freshman outside hitter

Michael Klein, as well as a service ace from sophomore outside hitter
Chaim Aryeh Rubin, to give the Macs a commanding 18-11 advantage. With Yeshiva having a set-point opportunity, senior defensive specialist
Hirschy Zaks immediately took advantage by scoring a service ace to give YU a 1-0 lead in the match.
Sarah Lawrence (0-12, 0-4 Skyline) kept the second set close throughout, but back-to-back kills from senior outside hitter
Eytan Darrison gave Yeshiva a 23-18 lead. The Gryphons responded with five unanswered points to pull within one. After calling a timeout, YU scored the final two points of the game, capped off kill from Greenberg, to go up 2-0 in the match.
Yeshiva fell behind, 9-7, in the third set. The tide would turn as the Maccabees scored ten unanswered points, highlighted by five kills from Greenberg and two kills from Klein, to earn a comfortable 19-9 advantage. Yeshiva went on to win the set, 25-14, and clinch the match, 3-0.
For the contest, Greenberg led all players with a career-high 21 kills, scored two service aces, and had one block. Klein tied a career-high with 23 assists, which was also a match-high, and added eight kills of his own. Rubin slammed home four kills, with three assists, and tied a team-high with 13 digs. Zaks anchored the defense with 13 digs of his own, while contributing to the offense with four service aces and helped out with just as many assists. Darrison produced nine digs with one block. Bar Alluf had two kills, with two services aces, and six digs.
In the match against Kean (14-7, 2-0 Skyline), set scores were 25-5, 25-9, and 25-9. Klein added four more kills with three assists, while Greenberg and Rubin each slammed home one kill. The former recorded one assist and one block, while the latter chipped in on defense with three digs. Hirschy led the team with four digs and scored one service ace. Alluf had a solid match defensively with two digs and one block. Darrison added one dig of his own.
The Maccabees will return to the friendly confines of the Max Stern Athletic Center on Tuesday, for a Skyline Conference matchup against Purchase College, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
