Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team dropped its Skyline Conference home opener to Purchase College, in straight sets, on Tuesday evening at the Max Stern Athletic Center. Set scores were 25-15, 25-8, and 25-16.
 
The Panthers (12-5, 3-2 Skyline) never trailed at any point in the match. The Maccabees (3-10, 1-3 Skyline) kept the first and third sets close, but could not go on a consistent run to put pressure on Purchase.
 
For the match, freshman outside hitter 
Jonathan Greenberg led the team with five kills.  Junior middle blocker 
Itai Guttman slammed home four kills of his own and added two blocks on defense. Sophomore middle blocker 
Samuel Marcus scored two kills, had just as many blocks, and produced a service ace. Senior libero 
Hirschy Zaks anchored the defense with a team-high eight digs.
 
Freshman outside hitter 
Julien Saka had three digs, while junior opposite hitter 
Mathew Rosenberg produced two digs and an assist. Senior setter 
Michael Klein led the Maccabees with nine assists and neutralized the Panthers' attack with a block. Freshman outside hitter 
Sander Eizen had two assists and just as many digs of his own. Sophomore opposite hitter 
Chaim Aryeh Rubin had an assist and freshman defensive specialist 
Sean Morady produced a dig.
 
Yeshiva will return to the Max Stern Athletic Center on Thursday, for a non-conference match against Webb Institute, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
