Box Score 2 BRONX, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University softball team suffered a pair of defeats at the hands of Baruch College, in a non-conference double-header, at Fordham University on Tuesday evening. Yeshiva fell in game one, 12-2, while dropping the second game, 15-6.
In the first end, Baruch scored eight runs in the fourth inning to blow the game open. Yeshiva scored its two runs thanks to junior second baseman
Liat Wasserman, who drilled a single to right and would come around to score on a pair of errors by Baruch's defense. Sophomore catcher
Sarah Hiller also scored from first during the play.
For the game, Hiller drew a walk, while sophomore designated player
Leah Feder drilled a double. In the circle, sophomore pitcher
Samantha Cohen pitched a complete game, but took the loss.
In game two, the Bearcats (5-1) scored 13 runs in the top of the second inning. In the bottom frame, the Maccabees (2-2) got three of those runs back. Junior center fielder
Ellie Chase opened up the scoring by producing an infield RBI single to score Feder. The next batter, junior right fielder
Shoshana Rozenberg, drilled a double to left field, scoring junior first baseman
Elisa Alweis and Chase.
In the bottom of the sixth, Chase hit an RBI single to score Feder, capping off a three-run inning for the Maccabees. It was not enough as Baruch earned the sweep.
For the contest, Chase and Rozenberg each went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in. Wasserman and Hiller each scored a run, with the latter producing a double. Freshman third baseman
Gabi Chutter produced a single. Feder crossed home plate twice.
In the circle, Alweis pitched a complete game, but took the loss.
The Maccabees will open up Skyline play on Friday, with a double-header at Old Westbury, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
