Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team suffered a non-conference loss to Bard College, in straight sets, at the Stevenson Athletic Center on Monday evening. Set scores were 25-20, 25-13, and 25-14.
Yeshiva (5-12) pushed Bard (5-17) to the limit in the first set. A service ace by senior setter
Michael Klein propelled the Maccabees to a 14-13 lead. The Raptors went on an 11-4 run to earn a set-point opportunity. YU scored two straight points off Bard errors to pull within four, but the Raptors were able to score the 25
th point to clinch the first game, 25-20.
Bard cruised to a win in set two. In the third, the Maccabees and Raptors were neck-in-neck early. Junior middle blocker
Tuvia Marks slammed home a kill to pull Yeshiva to within one, at 5-4. Klein scored another ace to narrow Bard's lead to 7-6. The Raptors answered by scoring 14 of the game's next 17 points to take a commanding 21-9 advantage. A kill by Marks capped off a 3-0 rally for YU to narrow Bard's lead to 21-12. However, the Raptors scored four of the game's last six points to clinch the set and win the match.
For the evening, Klein slammed home a team-high four kills, had a match-high three blocks, led the team with seven assists, anchored the defense with six digs, and scored two service aces. Sophomore middle blocker
Samuel Marcus had four kills with one ace, while Marks added just as many kills and one block. Senior libero
Hirschy Zaks had a match-high 11 digs and added two assists. Freshman middle blocker
Bar Alluf scored three aces, had just as many digs, and produced one block. Senior defensive specialist
Eytan Darrison had two digs with one service ace. Making his collegiate volleyball debut, freshman outside hitter
Simcha Halpert produced three digs, had two assists, and slammed home a kill.
Yeshiva will return to the friendly confines of the Max Stern Athletic Center on Wednesday, for a Skyline Conference match against Ramapo College, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
