Box Score 2 ALBANY, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team earned a split in the Skyline Conference Tri-Match, held on the campus of the Sage Colleges, on Sunday afternoon. Yeshiva dropped the first match to Sage in straight sets, but bounced back to sweep St. Joseph's College Brooklyn. YU now advances its record to 5-11 overall and 2-4 in Skyline play.
In the match against Sage, set scores were 25-15, 25-14, and 25-16. Freshman outside hitter
Jonathan Greenberg led all players with nine kills, anchored the defense with four digs, scored two service aces, had one block, and one assist.
Senior defensive specialist
Hirschy Zaks tied a match-high with six digs, while junior middle blocker
Itai Guttman neutralized the Gators' attack with two blocks. Freshman setter
Sander Eizen had 17 assists and three digs, while junior opposite hitter
Mathew Rosenberg slammed home five kills, scored two aces, had one block, and recorded one assist. Sophomore opposite hitter
Chaim Aryeh Rubin had four kills and sophomore middle blocker
Samuel Marcus slammed home two of his own.
In the win against the Bears, set scores were 25-19, 25-11, and 25-11. Greenberg once again led all players in kills, with 11, while contributing on defense with seven digs. The Cedarhurst resident scored three aces, had one block, and one assist.
Eizen had a match-high 22 assists, while Zaks produced a team-high 10 digs. Rosenberg just missed a double-double with 10 kills and nine digs, while scoring a match-high four service aces, helping out with four assists, and recording two blocks. Senior opposite hitter
Eytan Darrison produced three service aces, while Marcus added six kills. Guttman chipped in on defense with three blocks and Rubin produced three more kills.
The Maccabees will be back in action on Monday evening, with a non-conference match at Bard College, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
