Softball Drops Both Games to Sarah Lawrence College on Senior Night

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BRONX, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University softball team dropped both ends of its Skyline Conference double-header to Sarah Lawrence College, at Fordham University, on Sunday evening. The Maccabees fell in game one, 20-0, and were defeated in game two by a score of 15-1.

In game one, Sarah Lawrence scored nine runs in the first and never looked back. In the top of the second, junior pitcher Kamaron McNair helped her own cause by hitting a grand slam to give the Gryphons a commanding 15-0 lead.

For the Maccabees, junior left fielder Devorah Lamm went 1-for-2 with a double in the opening game, while freshman third baseman Gabi Chutter produced a single. Senior shortstop Hannah Dubin earned two walks, while sophomore catcher Sarah Hiller and junior right fielder Shoshana Rozenberg each reached base once via base-on-balls.

In the circle, sophomore pitcher Samantha Cohen struck out two batters in a complete game, but took the loss.

In the second end of the double-header, freshman catcher Mackenzie Mindish drilled a homer to left field to put the Gryphons (8-21-1, 4-14 Skyline) up 1-0, in the top of the first. Sarah Lawrence put up 11 runs in the top of the second to take a commanding advantage that would not be surrendered.

In the bottom of the second, with runners on first and second and two outs, Lamm singled to center, scoring junior center fielder Ellie Chase for Yeshiva's only run of the game.

For the contest, Dubin went two-for-three with a triple and a single. Junior first baseman Elisa Alweis reached base thanks to a walk. In the circle, Cohen fanned one hitter in her second complete game of the evening, but suffered the loss.

The Maccabees (2-12, 0-10 Skyline) will return to Fordham University on Tuesday, for a Skyline Conference double-header against Mount Saint Vincent, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Dolphins will be the official home team for both games.

Congratulations to graduating seniors Liat Wasserman and Hannah Dubin, who were honored with a ceremony between games one and two.
