Box Score 2 FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University baseball team dropped both ends of its Skyline Conference double-header to Farmingdale State, at the Farmingdale Baseball Stadium, on Thursday evening. The Maccabees fell in the first game, 12-1, and lost the second game by a score of 34-0. Yeshiva was the official home team for both games.
In the first contest, senior pitcher
Rephael Rosenberg retired the first six batters he faced. The Rams were able to get their lineup rolling by scoring eight runs in the top of the third, to put the game out of reach for the Maccabees.
In the bottom of the fifth, junior left field
Mordechai Cohen drilled a triple deep to center field. He eventually scored, thanks to an RBI single by junior first baseman
Eli Lipner for Yeshiva's only run of the double-header.
For the game, Cohen went 2-for-3 for Yeshiva, while freshman catcher
Max Goldstein, and senior center fielder
Elan Paul each produced a single, with the latter stealing a base. On the mound, Rosenberg struck out two batters in three innings pitched to take the loss.
In the second game, Farmingdale (20-13, 12-4 Skyline) once again had a big third inning, scoring nine runs in the frame to take a commanding 10-0 advantage, that would not be surrendered.
For game two, Goldstein went 2-for-3 with a stolen base for the Maccabees (0-17, 0-14 Skyline). Paul, junior shortstop
Shmuli Goldis, and freshman third baseman
Mordy Kirsch each reached base via a single. Sophomore pitcher
Josh Fogel drilled a double, while freshman second baseman
Jordan Shafron worked a walk. Paul started the game on the mound and took the loss.
