Box Score 2 PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University baseball team was swept by Purchase College, in a Skyline Conference double-header, at the Purchase College Baseball Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Maccabees lost game one, 18-3, while falling in the second game by a score of 18-1.
Down 1-0 with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the second, senior 
Elan Paul came through with a single to left field, scoring freshman shortstop 
Jordan Shafron and sophomore right fielder 
Josh Fogel, to give YU a 2-1 lead. The Panthers scored one run in each of the next two innings to regain the advantage, 3-2, after three innings of play.
In the top of the fourth, with runners at the corners and one out, Fogel stole second, allowing freshman second baseman 
Jacobo Bassan to score on the throw to tie the game at three. In the bottom frame, Purchase scored five runs to take a commanding 8-3 lead and never looked back. Purchase went on to win the game, 18-3.
For the first contest, Paul, junior right fielder 
Mordechai Cohen, and Bassan each went 2-for-4. Paul drove in two runs, while Bassan stole two bases and scored a run. Senior first baseman 
Rephael Rosenberg drilled a double, while junior catcher 
Shmuli Goldis produced a single, reached base via a walk, and stole a base. Freshman third baseman 
Mordy Kirsch drilled a double and drew a walk. Fogel scored a run, drew a walk, and stole two bases, while Shafron drew a walk and scored a run.
On the mound, Paul pitched a complete game but took the loss.
In the second game, the Maccabees (0-13, 0-10 Skyline) got off to a strong start. Paul laid down a bunt and was able to beat the throw at first base for a single. Thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Goldis, Paul advanced to second, and then ended up stealing third later in the inning. With a runner on third and two outs, Cohen produced a single to score Paul, putting Yeshiva up 1-0. Freshman catcher 
Max Goldstein hit a single to keep the inning going, but Yeshiva ended up leaving two runners on base.
The Panthers (2-9, 2-6 Skyline) scored three runs in the first to take a lead they would not surrender. Purchase went on to win the game, 18-1.
For the game, junior left fielder 
Eli Lipner added a single. Rosenberg started the game on the mound and took the loss.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Friday, April 21, for a Skyline Conference double-header against Farmingdale State, at Ridgefield Park beginning at 10:00 a.m.
