Box Score 2 THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University baseball team suffered two Skyline Conference losses to Maritime College, at Reinhart Field out in Throggs Neck, on Monday afternoon. Yeshiva lost game one, 13-0, and fell in the second game by a score of 18-4.
In game one, the Privateers scored four runs in the third, three in the fourth, and four more in the fifth to put the game out of reach for the Maccabees. In the top of the sixth, senior center fielder
Elan Paul and shortstop
Shmuli Goldis combined for back-to-back singles. Later in the inning, they each stole a base. However, Yeshiva could not push a run across as Maritime went on to earn the win.
For the contest, junior pitcher
Mordechai Cohen also reached base on a single and threw a complete game, with three strikeouts, on the mound.
In game two, the Privateers (23-11, 15-3) scored five runs in the first to take the lead for good. In the top of the sixth, sophomore right fielder
Josh Fogel connected on a three-run home run to left, to pull the Macs to within 11-4. It was the first round-tripper of his collegiate career.
Maritime added insurance runs in the bottom frame and went on to earn the sweep.
For the game, Fogel went 2-for-3, including the three-run homer, and scored two runs. Freshman second baseman
Mordy Kirsch went 3-for-3, while Goldis produced a single and a stolen base. Junior first baseman
Eli Lipner added a single and a run scored, while senior third baseman
Rephael Rosenberg added a single of his own. Freshman shortstop
Jordan Shafron crossed home plate once. Cohen picked up an RBI. On the mound, sophomore pitcher
Aryeh Salovey started the game and took the loss.
