Box Score 2 QUEENS, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University softball team dropped both ends of its Skyline Conference double-header to Mount Saint Vincent, at Padavan-Preller Fields, on Monday evening. Yeshiva lost game one, 11-0, and fell in the second game by a score of 8-0.
In the first game, the Dolphins scored eight runs in the first and never looked back. That was all senior pitcher Mackenzie Heizer would need as she retired all 15 Yeshiva batters she faced for the perfect game. For the Macs, sophomore pitcher
Samantha Cohen pitched a complete game, but took the loss.
In game two, Mount Saint Vincent (21-15, 10-8 Skyline) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings of play. Thanks to a couple of errors by the Dolphins, Yeshiva (2-18, 0-16 Skyline) had runners on first and second, with one out, in the top of the fourth. However, the Maccabees could not get a run across during the frame.
In the top of the sixth, junior second baseman
Liat Wasserman produced an infield single for Yeshiva's first and only hit of the double-header. In the bottom of the sixth, the Dolphins scored three more runs to clinch the victory. In the circle, Cohen pitched another complete game.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Tuesday, for a Skyline Conference double-header against Purchase College at Fordham University, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
