NEW YORK – The nationally ranked No. 20, and the league's No. 3-seed, Yeshiva University men's basketball team will battle fourth-seeded Manhattanville College in the Skyline Conference Championship game, at Max Stern Athletic Center, on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The winner of this game will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

This is Yeshiva's (24-3) fourth straight appearance in the league title game, going 2-1 in the previous three championship contests. This is Manhattanville's (17-8) first trip to the Skyline Final since winning the championship in 2006-07.

There will be a viewing party in Danciger Quadrangle at 1:00 p.m. All faculty and staff are welcome to attend.

Yeshiva is coming off a convincing win in the Skyline Semifinal contest against No. 7-seed College of Mount Saint Vincent, 89-62, at Max Stern Athletic Center on Thursday evening. On that same night, Manhattanville earned an upset win over top-seeded Farmingdale State College, 79-74, at the Nold Hall Athletic Complex.

The Maccabees defeated the Valiants in their only head-to-head encounter this season, 78-56, at Max Stern Athletic Center, back on November 28. Manhattanville had a 12-point lead late in the first half, but the Maccabees overcame the deficit to earn the conference win. During that contest, senior Ryan Turell set the program single-game scoring record with 51 points and shot 21-for-30 (70.0%) from the floor, including 8-for-15 (53.3%) from beyond the arc.

Yeshiva was ranked No. 1 in the country during this year, while riding a 50-game winning streak. The Maccabees won 22 out of 25 games during the regular season, including an impressive win over nationally ranked, and previously undefeated, No. 5 University of Saint Joseph, 87-76, at Max Stern Athletic Center on February 17.

Leading the way for the Maccabees has been Turell who leads all three NCAA Divisions with 27.5 points per game in 2021-22. He is No. 1 on Yeshiva's All-Time Scoring List with 2,114 career points. He also has 742 points this year, the most of any YU player all-time in a season. He added 34 points during the Macs' league semifinal win over the Dolphins.

Graduate student Gabriel Leifer has impacted the Maccabees by securing 10 double-doubles, including four triple-doubles, during the season. He tallied his fourth triple-double during YU's Skyline Semifinal win over Mount Saint Vincent with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. He has scored 1,609 points and dished out a Yeshiva all-time best 646 assists during his illustrious career. During the Maccabees' conference quarterfinal win over the Panthers of Purchase College, this past Tuesday, Leifer surpassed Yeshiva University Athletics Hall of Famer David Kufeld ('80) for No. 1 on YU's All-Time Career Rebounding List. Leifer now has 1,236 rebounds during his time at Yeshiva.

Manhattanville has won 11 of its last 12 games entering Sunday's championship game, including two league postseason games.

Leading the way for the Valiants has been junior Tommy Lotito who is netting 12.1 points, dishing out 4.7 assists, and grabbing 4.4 rebounds per game this year. Senior Petey Galgano is averaging 9.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest.
