NEW YORK – Yeshiva University baseball graduating senior Eliyahu Solomon was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team on Tuesday afternoon. This prestigious program honors student-athletes who succeed both in athletics and in academics.

Solomon had a productive season for the baseball team as he produced eight hits and drew two walks during his senior campaign. The Sherman Oaks native drilled a double and scored a run during game one against Utica University, back on March 5. On the mound, he struck out a batter and did not allow a run during game one against Manhattanville College, on April 21.

On May 11, Solomon earned the Aaron Meyer Memorial Award in recognition of selfless dedication to the athletics program, at the Athletic Department's Annual Awards Dinner. That same night, he also earned the Coach's Award. Solomon has played a key role behind the scenes at several athletic events, including operating the scoreboard, keeping score of volleyball matches, etc.

In the classroom, the political science major has a cumulative GPA of 3.91 and has earned a spot on the Skyline Academic Honor Roll twice.

Thanks to being selected to the CSC Academic All-District team, Solomon is now eligible for Academic All-America. Voting will take place by College Sports Communicators throughout the country from May 16 until May 23. The CSC Academic All-America team will be announced on Wednesday, June 7.
