Bialik, a scientist, actor and author who rose to fame during her time on the sitcoms Blossom and The Big Bang Theory, has signed on to produce "The Maccabees," alongside her production company, Sad Clown Productions. The film will tell the story of the Macs' historic 2019-2021 50-game win streak, focusing on Head Coach Elliot Stenimetz, as well as the players' dedication to their Jewish faith.

About the project's announcement, Bialik told Deadline, "what remains true is that stories of Jewish ingenuity, perseverance, and resilience are necessary more than ever...our company is proud to bring this truly unbelievable and inspiring story to life, and we are eager to find partners who believe in continuing the message that Coach Elliot Steinmentz and the Maccabees of Yeshiva University were able to spread in their historic run."

The film's writer, Matt Ritter, went on to say, "this team of exceptional athletes and winners at Yeshiva University did something really special. They went on an epic winning streak led by a coach who shares my determination to prove Jews can be whatever we want, including great athletes."
