POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Competing for the final time in the 2025-26 season, the Yeshiva Women's Fencing Team took part in the EWFC Championships on Sunday, Feb. 15th.
The Maccabees crossed swords with teams from across the northeast, taking on: Vassar College, The City College of New York, Hunter College, Tufts University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Drew University, Wellesley College, and Johns Hopkins University.
On top of individual successes, the Maccabees also garnered a team accolade, earning the EWFC Championships Team Sportsmanship Award.
With the results, the Macs close out the season with a 0-20 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva opened the day against Vassar, falling by a score of 24-3.
- The Maccabees had their best match in round two, falling to CCNY in a close fight, 14-13. YU came out on top 6-3 in foil, seeing bout wins from Yaffa Gottlieb, Leora Schramm, and Sofia Rauh.
- The Macs then closed out the day with losses to Hunter (22-5), Tufts (27-0), Stevens (26-1), Drew (25-2), Wellesley (27-0), and Johns Hopkins (26-1).
