NEW YORK, NY - The Yeshiva men's soccer team concluded their 2011 campaign Sunday night with a 8-1 loss to Berkeley (NY). The Macs finish with an overall record of 3-12 surpassing their win total from 2010 by two games.
Yeshiva got off to a slow start Sunday night as Berkeley scored three times in the first twelve minutes of the match. With the score 3-0, Yeshiva went out of their comfort zone and played a more aggressive style on offense. The Macs had their runs but could not put the ball in the net and cut into the Berkeley lead. Berkeley countered the attacking style of the Macs and put in two more goals before halftime making the score 5-0.
The second half started off with the Macs continuing to play aggressive and it finally paid off.
Daniel Benchimol attempted a shot that hit off the right post and
Nate Japhet was there to rebound the ball and put in the back of the net. The goal was Japhet's first of his career and Benchimol was credited with his fourth assist this season. Unfortunately, that was the only offense the Macs could produce and lost 8-1.
