POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.— Highlighted by a 14-13 win over Marist College, the Yeshiva University women's fencing team went 1-5 at the Matt Lampell Hudson River Invitational hosted by Vassar College on Sunday.
Besides their win over Marist, the Maccabees lost to Queens College 18-9, LIU Post 15-12, the City College of New York 22-5, Army 17-10 and Vassar College 25-2.
In sabre,
Michelle Sabbagh went 3-0 against her opposition from LIU-Post and Marist College to lead the team with nine total wins.
Rani Silvert also had a perfect 3-0 record against her Marist College foes, while picking up eight wins on the day.
Sora Gordon added four total wins for Yeshiva.
In epee, Zelda Saifati earned eight wins, including a 3-0 record against Army, to lead the team, while
Sarah King and
Devora Scott-Thoennes had two victories apiece.
In foil,
Emma Rubin had eight wins, including a 3-0 record against the foil opponents from LIU-Post.
Deborah Laban had six wins, while
Tamar Shiller added two victories.
