Men's Soccer Falls to Sage College in Skyline Conference Showdown

Box Score

TEANECK, N.J.— The Yeshiva University men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback to Sage College in a Skyline Conference matchup at Fairleigh Dickinson University Soccer Field on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, Yeshiva falls to 5-3-1 overall this season and 1-3-1 In Skyline Conference play. Sage College improves to 2-4-1 and is now 1-0-0 in Skyline Conference play.

Both teams came out and played an even contest in the first half. Neither team took many chances, nor did either school offer a great scoring opportunity. The first half saw both teams combine for eight shots with Yeshiva holding a 6-2 edge on overall shots, including 3-0 in shots on goal.

In the second half the visiting Gators got the break they needed when they scored the first goal of the game just minutes in to the final stanza. Sage's Kevin Saar netted the first goal of the game 5:58 in to give the Gators a 1-0 lead and momentum.

The Maccabees, for only the third time this season, had to play from behind. The stingy defense from Sage prevented Yeshiva from getting a ball past the goal line the rest of the way.

With the score still 1-0 in favor of Sage with under five minutes to go, the Gators added a pair of insurance goals to increase their lead to three. Sage's Mu'Ammar Camara made the score 2-0 with a goal at 85:35, before Saar scored his second goal of the game seventy-six seconds later to make the score 3-0 Sage with 3:09 to play.

Sage held a 9-5 advantage on shots in the second half as both teams ended with 11 shots each.

Maor Feinstein made two second half saves for the Maccabees, while Sage goalkeeper TJ Zehner stopped six Yeshiva shots overall.

Itamar Ben David, Daniel Amar and Aaron Braun each fired three shots to lead Yeshiva, while Ronan Weinberg-Waks and Leon Aboudi took one each for the Maccabees.
